Purpose

I am a lay counselor who recognizes dissociation, is a normal and common response to trauma, and the missing link to emotional wellness in the lives of hurting, depressed, frustrated and  isolated people. Many feel judged and misunderstood by God, Pastors, Ministry leaders and fellow believers because they cannot, even after years of counseling, psychiatric intervention and medication, control their emotional responses to ‘normal’ daily life. What I write about flows from more than 3000 hours of working with adult survivors of sexual abuse,Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA) victims, and those who generally feel stuck in life by emotional problems and physical ailments. Partnering with Jesus, the goal is always to bring a closer and more trusting relationship with Him. Why are so many struggling with this?  Considering the high percentage of child abuse, including sexual molestation, SRA and PTSD from wars and other trauma, is it any surprise that churches and our communities are full of people struggling to accept themselves, embrace God and live abundantly.

I write to inform, educate and empower survivors of these debilitating life challenges, that have limited their spiritual and emotional growth, and in many cases, their mental capacities.I also write to challenge certain traditional beliefs about depression, panic attacks, addictions and suicide, not only in the church, but also in secular and traditional psychiatry. Science is proving the mind/body connection is real and impacts our physical health. Dissociation and hidden trauma are responsible for many inflammatory conditions and unexplained body pain. My intention is to start a conversation that will help many, who have done all they know to do and still it is not enough. To bring dissociation from darkness into light, where true and complete healing is possible.

In 2009 I attended an Anazao school. Peter Toth taught and then demonstrated how common dissociation is, how it functions in our lives and how oblivious most of us are to the impact of it on our own lives. I believe in the healer being healed first, so I embarked on, and have completed my own journey of trauma resolution  and counseling with Peter. I now have a firm foundation, based on truth, to move forward in my life and to fulfill the purposes Christ has for me.I have successfully completed a Masters Diploma in Christian Counseling from the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), Light University on line, specializing in Trauma and PTSD.

John 8:36 speaks of true freedom, complete healing with Jesus; For many, this appears unattainable. My purpose in blogging is to reveal many reasons complete freedom is so elusive for so many.
